My iMac died on me this morning. So that was fun. I know it's the disk, and it's been flaky for the past couple of months. Hopefully the Mac servicecenter will replace it this time, instead of telling me it's nothing more than a corrupted OS.
Work was dead today. Really dead. No one was there. That's the nice thing about an University during the summer time. So I took the time to rebuild my workstation to Ubuntu 8.04. I originally put 7.04 on it and a subsequent upgrade turned it into a flake monger. Compiz would die for no reason, the screen saver wouldn't take at time. It was time to rebuild.
The problem with rebuilding is I have to reinstall all the programs I use on a day to day basis. It's easy to do with Ubuntu... with any Linux OS nowdays... but it's still a pain. The biggest one is getting all the perl modules loaded.
Hence why I didn't update my blog until now. The CLI program I wrote is in perl.
Today is a day to just sit around the porch and watch the ducks quack.
Oh... and yesterday's server that would not start? Corrupted XML in the config file!!! What caused it? The program.... a known bug. Fun.
Off to Zen.
